The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will begin on February 19, 2025, as the tournament returns after eight years. The event will be hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will see the top eight ODI teams play across different venues.

Teams and Groups

The teams are split into two groups:

  • Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
  • Group B: Afghanistan, Australia, England, South Africa

Fixtures and Schedule

The tournament will take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with 15 matches played across three cities of Pakistan and Dubai. Each team will have three group-stage matches, with the top two teams from each group going into the semi-finals.

  • February 20: Bangladesh vs. India (Dubai)
  • February 23: Pakistan vs. India (Dubai)
  • February 24: Bangladesh vs. New Zealand (Rawalpindi)

  • March 2: India vs New Zealand (Dubai)

Semi-finals on March 4 and 5, with the final on March 9. India will play in Dubai if they reach the final; else, the game will be held in Lahore.

Players to Watch

Pakistan: Skipper Mohammad Rizwan has a lethal pace attack to head, and Babar Azam will try to support the batting department.

India: Even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who is ruled out through injury, the team remains strong with captain Rohit Sharma at the lead and Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer part of the batting line-up.

New Zealand: With Mitchell Santner as the leader, the team is weakened by the absence of the veterans Tim Southee and Trent Boult but can rely on the guile of Kane Williamson.

Bangladesh: Under the captaincy of Najmul Hossain Shanto, the team has to go through tough games and the absence of star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Afghanistan: Under the captaincy of Hashmatullah Shahidi, the team has a strong spin bowling attack, with the team looking to strengthen the batting unit.

Australia: With retirements and injuries, the team will have to bank on Steve Smith to lead the team, with some new faces.

England: The squad hopes to rebound from last season's poorer performances with a new coach, Brendon McCullum, with the influx of important bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood lending power to the squad.

South Africa: Captain Temba Bavuma leads an experienced squad and hopes to end their recent slumps and produce a strong performance in the competition.
